Area: Developing Design Recommendations For Accidental Eccentricity To Account For Torsional Ground Motion
In the equivalent-lateral-force (ELF) procedure of seismic design, accidental torsion is typically considered by applying the design lateral force profile at an offset equal to the accidental eccentricity from the centre of mass (CM). This thesis evaluates the required accidental eccentricity to account for torsional ground motion. This thesis also presents a methodology to quantify accidental eccentricity due to torsional ground motion specifically for response history analysis.
